Stiff Chicks is the blog of the Young Women’s Arthritis Support Group of Victoria (Australia). We have plans to provide regular posts with information about living with arthritis, news about treatments, stories from our members and more. We are getting everything set up right now, and recruiting help from our members to write content, but we expect to start posting weekly in a few weeks from now.

We hope you will enjoy the blog, and look forward to making many new friends.

    Hi All,
I went to my first meeting last night, and it was exactly what i needed. I am 23 and was diagnosed with RA a bit over 3 months ago. I was feeling very unsure and confused about everything. It was great to site down and talk to other ladies who have been through what i am going through, the tips, support, and just talking was Great!! It feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
Naomi is a wonderful lady who has been through so much but still so strong and working towards everything she wishes to do. Fantastic role model and very easy to talk to about anything.
I recommend for anyone confused and scared about RA to attend at least one meeting. It is a real eye opener and dont forget to let your emotions run if they are trapped inside, I did and it was a great feeling.
Thanks again Naomi for all your support.
    Take Care.

    Hi Danni

Thank you for your lovely words. It was great to meet you and I am so happy our group offered you some support and a place for you to share your story. We look forward to seeing you at future meetings if you feel up to coming.

As Danni said, if anyone is confused or scared about their disease, please come along to a meeting to see what it’s all about. We are a warm friendly bunch who just want to help others like us.

    Warm regards
    Naomi Creek

    Hi Monique

Sorry to hear your RA is giving you a bit of trouble at the moment. It’s great that you want to start looking at management techniques and there are a lot of great ideas, products, courses out there to help.

Can I suggest you join the Young Women’s Arthritis Support Group (YWASG). I am one of the conveners of the group and we have a lot of young members. Go to http://www.ywasg.com for more details. You can sign up as a member through the site and then you can be sent details of our meetings. We meet monthly in Ashburton. I would also like to recommend our forum, which you can find at http://www.ywasg.com/forum – this is a great place to chat to others who understand what you are going through.

    Hope to meet you soon!
    Naomi :)

Hi, I am 36 years of age with two kids. I have just been diagnosed with auto immune disease and psorasis arthritis throughout my body. I am from Canberra ACT and at times feel totally overwhelmed with the thought and Doctor recommendations, prescribtions etc.
